NCAA DIVISION I MEN'S AND WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIPS
Since 2002, Indiana State University and the city of Terre Haute have hosted the NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships 13 times at the prestigious LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course. Most recently, Indiana State hosted the men's and women's title races in the 2019 season that saw the BYU men and Arkansas women snare the team titles. The NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships return to Terre Haute in 2026, marking the 14th time in the last 25 seasons that the premier event on the schedule comes to the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course
Only Michigan State has hosted the Division I men's championship more times than Indiana State, hosting every iteration from 1938-1964 being run in East Lansing, Mich. No school has hosted the women's national title race more than Indiana State since the women's championship began in 1981 in Wichita, Kan.
